About Yzen

Meet your teacher

Yzen has spent [X] years at the piano and [X] years helping others find their way to it. She teaches one-to-one from her home studio in Punggol, where lessons are unhurried, personal, and shaped around each student.

Her students range from four-year-olds meeting the keys for the first time to adults returning to a childhood instrument. What they share is a teacher who listens first — and who believes ability grows fastest where interest is genuine.

Teaching Philosophy

Lessons that meet the student where they are

Bringing out the best

Every student has a best — and it looks different for each one. Lessons are paced and shaped to the individual, so progress feels earned, never forced.

Nurturing real interest

Technique matters, but curiosity is what keeps a student at the piano for life. Repertoire is chosen with the student, not just for them.

Foundations that last

Posture, reading, listening, and musicality are built carefully from the first lesson — habits that serve students long after the exam is over.

FAQ

Common questions

What age can students start?

Most children are ready from around age [4–5], though it varies. If you're unsure, mention your child's age on the waitlist form and Yzen will advise honestly — including if it's worth waiting a little longer.

Does my child need a piano at home?

Regular practice needs an instrument at home. An acoustic piano is ideal, but a full-size (88-key) digital piano with weighted keys is a fine start. Yzen is happy to advise on what to get before you buy anything.

Do you prepare students for graded exams?

Yes — [ABRSM / Trinity] practical and theory exams at all grades. Exams are offered as a milestone for students who want them, never as the whole point of learning.

How long is a lesson, and how often?

Lessons are weekly, at [30, 45, or 60] minutes depending on the student's age and level. Yzen will recommend a length at the first lesson.

Where in Punggol is the studio?

A short walk from [nearest LRT station]. To keep a private home studio private, the exact address is shared once you're on the waitlist — mention where you're coming from on the form and Yzen can confirm it's convenient for you.

How does the waitlist work?

Yzen teaches a deliberately small number of students, so places open as schedules change. Join the waitlist below and she'll reply personally — with either an available slot or an honest estimate of the wait.

What about fees?

Fees depend on lesson length and level, and are shared when Yzen replies to your waitlist enquiry.
